XCF Extreme Climate Index (ECI) for Africa

A data-driven financial vehicle to supprt adaptation to climate change.

This project has three objectives: 1) design a new Extreme Climate Index (ECI), an objective multi-hazard weather index; 2) define a methodology capable of tracking changes in the frequency or magnitude of extreme weather events in African countries; 3) design a risk modelling strategy that uses ECI under different climate scenrios. The outcome of this project underpins the operations of the Extreme Climate Facility (XCF).
